Hi guys,
I know it won't climb mountains, or cross deep river crossings, I even know it wont be able to tackle the CSR or Gunshot Creek...but it is mine and does everything I ask of it.
Originally purchased the X-trail in 2003 for my wife, but since selling my Pajero, the bug has bitten and the hip pocket has taken a hiding.
Enjoy the pics.
1. Stock vehicle:
2. First purchase, new tyres BFG all terrains 225/70r16.
3. Got a nudgebar on the cheap and installed it myself to save some more money.
4. Nice set of spotlights to improve the night visability. Headlights also upgraded to 120/90watt.
5. Living among farmlands, a good horn is a must...139db of pure bliss.
6. Cosmetic addition I know, but I think the engine cover cleans up the engine bay nicely...off a US spec Nissan Sentra. Also added is the Alutec strut bar, which totally transformed the exy's handling.
7. Another mod to impress the mechanic...bonnet struts.
8. You can never have two many brake lights, top ones added for safety. Lowest middle light is a fog light.
9. Another self install, GME TX4400 UHF and aerial. Bracket has been adapted to allow me to hide the aerial when not in use.
10. Dual exhaust to get rid of that dreaded 44 gallon drum muffler that Nissan threw on for a joke.
11. Finished result. Just need to raise it by 40mm, but can't decide on the springs yet.
I hope you enjoy the modifications I have made to my (wifes) car. _________________ His and Hers Nissans-

Yep, nice looking truck. Very impressed with the mods that you've made. Question however, why did you install the gas struts for the bonnet? Was it an access thing? _________________ 1997 80 Series. ARB bullbar, IPF Driving lights, OME Suspension, Uniden UHF

Thanks for the kind words. My wife just finished reading them and now she's impressed.

Why did I install the gas bonnet struts, not sure really. Just sick and tired of trying to work around the central bonnet support I guess. Also, the x-trail support is not too steady and on one ocassion it came out and the bonnet fell onto my back. Luckily it didn't fall too far. _________________ His and Hers Nissans-

Great looking ride mate, now i have some more ideas for the little ladies x-trail.
Be interested to see what you do with the lift as we are contemplating lifting ours..Mind you the exhaust mod looks the goods helps inprove its clearance..
Did you have to remove the bumper to fit the Nudge bar? or were you doing other bits at the same time? _________________ Its a jeep thing, even i dont understand. |

Patrol42.
40mm lift is in tomorrow (wed), so I will post more pics. As for the nudgebar instal, yeah had to remove the front bumper but all up only took a few hours. Very easy to do. I did knock myself out and required 7 stitches to my eyebrow when the shifter came off, but that's another story. Re the nudgebar install, I have all the parts, template and heaps of pics if you contemplate this in the future. _________________ His and Hers Nissans-

THE SPRING LIFT IS FINALLY IN !!!
After careful considerations, decided to go with the Pedders Trakryder springs, which has raised the exy nicely.
Front ground to guard height is now 825mm, prior was 800mm.
Rear ground to guard height is now 835mm, prior was 805mm.
The ride is now more firmer, but not too firm that my fillings will fall out. The strut bar controls the extra bodyroll caused by the height increase, nicely.
Very impressed. _________________ His and Hers Nissans-

You still got that heap of junk Brett72
Good to hear the old girl is still going strong mate after the "screw" saga and it sounds like she will live a lot longer in your garage & heart too.

Looking good
a better measurement would be from the bottom of the wheel to the guard rather than the ground as tyre size and pressure will change that measurement. _________________ "It came to me that everytime I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them.
